Welcome to Mater Christi
Mater Christi Catholic Primary School is located in Yangebup, a suburb approximately 15 minutes south of Perth. The school originally opened in 1990 and relocated to this beautiful site in 1993.
The campus is uniquely located at the end of a cul-de-sac, behind the church in a bushland setting overlooking Yangebup Lake. Classrooms are all air-conditioned to ensure that good teaching and learning takes place in a comfortable environment. Specialist teachers in ICT, Physical Education including Edudance, Italian, Music and Drama complement the classroom programme.
Our focus on learning in ICT includes the use of Interactive Whiteboards in all Pre Primary to Year Six classrooms, with access to a number of online learning programmes. A computer lab is a feature, as is the use of iPod touch and iPad devices.
Many extra curricular learning experiences are available to our students – choir, instrumental music tuition, before and after school sports programmes, Edudance programme, Interschool sports opportunities, Gardening Club and Glee Club. Significant numbers of our children are involved in the Annual Catholic Schools Performing Arts festival.
As a Christ-centred Catholic Community we aim to establish an environment of love and care, promoting a sense of self worth within each child.
As a Catholic Parish community school, there is a good and nurturing relationship between school and Parish.
We provide a teaching and learning environment where children and their teachers thrive and get the best out of one another. We develop a sense of community, where all members work together to ensure the best outcomes for each child. We proclaim the gospel message, providing the opportunity for children to develop a loving and meaningful relationship with their God.
Our students generally attend the following high schools after completing Year Six:
Emmanuel Catholic College, Success (our main feeder school); Corpus Christi, Bateman; Seton Catholic College, Samson; Iona College, Mosman Park; CBC Fremantle; Trinity College, Perth and Mercedes College, Perth.
